PostSubject: British mangalitza bloodlines   Thu Jun 25, 2009 10:15 pm

After numerous debates on the pure colours of mangalitzas in the UK I have added this section for clarity.............

Blondes

Sows/gilts Princess & Pride (Perfection line dead)

Boars Curly

Reds

Sows/gilts Bonny & Abbottess

Boars Leader

Swallow Bellied

Sows/gilts Topsy, Duchess & Delight

Boars Wonder

Of course this information is only relevent if your pigs are bred pure, if the colours have been crossed then the pedigree could have anyone of the sows or boars within its bloodlines.

Thanks for that info, Tracey.

Shame that already lines are being lost, and worse there is a risk of interbreeding and impure piglets. Similar thing happened here in France with GOS, which is why me and Barry have just imported 4 fresh, never been in France before bloodlines.

Has Tony York got plans for more imports ?

Not that i am aware of carole. We could really do with a new boar line in each colour.

I can not afford to import any at the minute, I have spoken to a number of breeder, the ideal solution would be seman, however none is available.... I have tried!

or a concortium of breeder pooling together to buy new lines and import, but i havent been able to gain any interest from anyone with this idea.

We have reds and blondes breeding colour true and will soon have a trio of swallows, however next generation will have to be colour crossed. If new lines arnt brought in soon our origional stock will be too old and the pure colours will be lost.

We were hoping to get some pigs from france soon Very Happy

Hi
I have real problems with bloodlines, and like to keep things pure.

The stock from Austria...... I am working on this and need them all here ASAP, I have orders that I can not at the moment fullfill.

What colours do you think are needed, or maybe what are you looking for, as I am typing Barry is in contact with the breeder and transport people, it appears we have lost yet again the last litter..........watch this space, IT WILL HAPPEN SOON.... fingers crossed
