PostSubject: New arrivals!   Mon May 11, 2009 9:18 am

We had a beautiful litter born over the weekend. Mangalitza crosses but all beautifully striped like Onslo their dad.

We have crosses already and they have the most beautiful curly coats. Some black and some brindle coloured. Full grown the four we have are quite small but incredibly solid and carry the Swallowbelly traits and looks, particularly in the face with the white circles around the eyes.

We lost one during last night. It was expected though. It was born dead and I brought it back to life. It was most bizzarre actually. Mum had already given birth to four. Number five was on the way out - legs all the way out, and as I arrived with the food bucket, she litterally sucked the piglet back in. She got up to eat, and to see her you would not know she was actually in labour at all. It was another half an hour before it was actually born. She carried on to have another two after that. So we have six healthy little ones now 4 girls and 2 boys.

Has anyone else had any new arrivals or strange birthing stories to tell us about?

Kate pig
