PostSubject: Hello from another one in Finland!!   Wed Nov 26, 2008 7:29 pm

Hi Very Happy just wanted to introduce ourselves,
we are both english and two years ago decided we really, really wanted to live a quieter, closer to nature lifestyle so we came to Finland! ( I have very good friends here already and had visited many times)
we have bought a smallholding 13 hectares(about 31 acres),its a mixture of field and forest and various out buildings.
we have never done anything like this before so its a HUGE learning curve! but its great fun, oh yes and lots of hard work too! Laughing last year we had 3 pigs which were home killed in november, ready for the xmas table, we sold the meat. the pigs were Yorkshire pigs so they werent really suited to the cold! thats why we are looking into Mangalitzas, all that lovely curly hair just perfect for the cold!
we have 8 sheep,23 chickens and 5 cats.we sell the sheep meat and sheepskin and eggs.
we also have grown a huge amount of veggies which we have stored inthe cellar and freezer.
Oh yes and the language! its not easy and at times emmbaressing when you make silly little mistakes Embarassed
We love it here, its challenging in every way, especially right now as we are in the midst of winter, hmm things are so different when you have snow on the ground! we feel as we are living right in nature.
so anyone feel like a visit you are so,so welcome
we are looking forward to participating in this wonderful forum.
Nikki.

Nikki.

It is lovely to hear from you. I feel very very cold now. Having said that though, I bet you make the most wonderful snowmen!

Welcome Exclamation

Hello and welcome from me too.

I am constantly making mistakes with French language, but then at least I try--- very trying.

Mangalitzas will do very well in your climate- any luck sourcing some?

Carole
