we have bought a smallholding 13 hectares(about 31 acres),its a mixture of field and forest and various out buildings.

we have never done anything like this before so its a HUGE learning curve! but its great fun, oh yes and lots of hard work ...

Bonjour,

Please take a look at our Mangalitza here - he's called Bob and arrived at our farm in France at the end of June 2008.

He's very lonely.... we took him on the basis that we had booked a baby Mangalitza to join him, after 3 1/2 months the youngster, although it must now be about 5 months old.. still hasn't turned up. .

As I don't think the breeders are ever going to let us have our other pig - I don't know why, but there is ...

Perhaps others would agree that it would be most helpful if existing and new members could fill in their location details on the Members profile. It's poses no risk and makes it much easier to respond to animals for sale and other such 'posts'.

Hello All,

I live in the Indre region of France, with my other half, 2 dobermans, 1 cat, 2 horses, 5 sheep, 12 chickens & last but certainly not least my 2 Gossies who will soon be joined by their new pals Ocho(female Mangalitza) & Fiona a pregnant Tamworth sow

We are currently renovating our house & have been for the past year, it was a total ruin, so we live in a big mobile home at the moment which I must say is very warm & comfortable!

Hi,

Thank you for the invitation to join the forum.

Our family has 2 Mangalitzas sows, a red called 'Scarlet' and a blonde called 'Blonde' (not very original!). Both our sows are of the original imported stock by Tony York.

My son Jack, now aged 14 got us started with pigs when he was about 8 by keeping a couple of Kune Kune's, and we still have one called Babe. When he saw an article in a magazine about Mangalitzas he really wanted one. He had earned some money through having ...

I live in County Westmeath in the heart of Ireland with my husband and 2 daughters. We have 3 Kune Kune pigs and two Mangalitza sows (red and swallowbellied) the red sow had a litter of 6 piglets and they are now 10 weeks old. I am fairly new to pig keeping so I am looking forward to learning from other Mangalitza owners as well as sharing any of my own pearls of wisdom!!

Good luck

My name is Carole and currently am the proud owner of 4 pure bred Mangalitzas, here in France it has prooved very hard to obtain the paperwork necessary to register them as pedigrees. However the new arrivals from Austria will be just that pedigrees.

I started off with 3 females, Bessie the mother and 2 of her off spring Silvie and Piggy- Sue. I was fortunate to buy them from someone who has now become a good friend, known fondly as Hilarysmum- I am sure she will be able to add to this ...

My name is Rachel and I live in Central Bulgaria. I used to live and help out on a farm with my former partner. My parents have sheep in Cumbria. I have always been animal mad and now have 5 rescue dogs and a cat here in Bulgaria. I would love to have pet pigs, some small, different breed. Looked at Kune Kune's when in UK and nearly bought some at auction. Would love to have more of a smallholding here in Bulgaria as I have the land but EU rules and regulations unsure at the moment. ...
